When the tree was founded from a bedroom back in 2014, Daniel Andrews and Edward Fraser had no idea how rapidly it would grow – soon becoming a major player in digital marketing, now boasting a team of more than 50 social first marketers, strategists and creatives.
As the agency has grown, it’s become clear that it’s time for our branding and positioning to reflect that. That’s why this week we’re proud to unveil our much anticipated and long-awaited rebrand of the tree.
Change is crucial in our industry, and we want to make sure we’re constantly evolving for both our clients and our people. This exciting update marks a significant turning point in the tree’s journey, bringing us into a new space.
History of the tree
Over the last seven years, the tree has built a team of social natives on the cutting edge of trends and best practices – pioneering the digital landscape with new, rich content to meet the ever-evolving demands of today’s consumer, be that B2B or B2C.
From building social channels from the ground up, through to controlling and managing large existing communities, we have worked to exceed client demands, producing impactful, real-word outcomes on a daily basis. A core belief of the tree is in being truly sector agnostic – benefiting all clients by using learnings from each to better outcomes across brands and markets.
The wider team now includes account managers, copywriters, social media managers, full stack developers, designers, a studio team of videographers and animators, influencer specialists, paid media experts and even apprentices – who the tree mentors as part of the UK apprenticeship scheme, giving fresh new talent an opening in the world of social and digital.
In the COVID era alone, we’ve supported global brands including Anglo American, American Airlines, easyJet and many other companies hit hard by the crisis – strengthening their brand and allowing them not just to connect with their audiences, but reach new ones.
Why we’ve rebranded
And with that the tree has moved into its own new space too – with the premise of serious social at the core of our brand.
Our new branding is as bold and sophisticated as our work and people. It elevates the tree’s positioning and aligns with a new set of thinking as we continue to grow our agency, and focus on real-world outcomes through social-first thinking.
Our new logo itself is an evolution rather than a revolution from its predecessor, retaining a more refined word mark. We are retaining the recognition the tree has gained within our industry, with a nod to where we've come from and how we've grown.
The non uniform, more natural shape of the newly-introduced tree rings evoke a feeling of flexibility – mirroring the tree's abilities across its service areas, as well as being able to sit alongside client brands.
Our new colour - charged green - sits alongside the tree green with white, representing our boldness as a multi award-winning agency in the social, digital and creative agency space.
What’s next for the tree
When the pandemic hit, we stepped up – aware that our clients would be under huge pressure. We prepared for the worst like any responsible business but - to our surprise - we grew beyond even our pre-pandemic goals in a surprise surge. We signed new clients. We hired new team members. And above all, we evolved our offering.
As we enter a new phase of rapid growth despite the chaos caused by the pandemic, we remain present for our people and our clients. Our positioning is centred around helping progressive brands achieve real world outcomes through social-first thinking.
Everything we do is informed by insight, understanding data, and understanding communities that drive digital activities. Within this our offering has matured and is defined by three key pillars: Strategy, Creation and Activation.
As we look towards the remainder of the year and further ahead, we continue to put in place the investment needed to ensure our future growth – bolstering our offering with key hires across the business, including business strategy, and audience and content insight.
Our efforts are also focused on our acquisition strategy, looking at other businesses to further complement our data and production services as well as growing globally. We also continue to innovate with the constant development of our powerful single-screen CMS and eCommerce solution, the root, used by many of our clients.
