Earlier this month, Instagram debuted their newest multi-coloured logo design and updated their in-app look.
A colourful logo
The new icon was inspired by the previous app icon, a retro-looking camera. The design consists of bright gradient colours (pink, purple, orange, yellow and blue) interrupted by a white outline of a camera.
The icons have also been updated for their other creative apps: Layout, Boomerang and Hyperlapse.
On the inside
The Facebook-owned app have made improvements on how the app looks on the inside. The simpler design “puts more focus on your photos and videos” without changing how you navigate the app, Instagram wrote in a blog post.
Instagram add that the “Instagram community has evolved over the past five years from a place to share filtered photos to so much more – a global community of interests sharing more than 80m photos and videos every day. Our updated look reflects how vibrant and diverse your storytelling has become.”
What we think
We love parts of Instagram’s new look. Our Creative Lead, Tristan says “I love the iconography but I am not struck on the colour, it’s a shame that they also failed to mirror the bevel of the icon on the outer square.”
