During my first few weeks interning at the tree, I was met with several pleasant surprises. As a college student from Kentucky, I didn’t know what to expect when I stepped into an unfamiliar office setting in the already-unfamiliar city of London, but I did know that the music playing on the speakers and the warm greeting were a good sign.
From the moment I stepped into the office I felt welcomed and excited to embark on this semester-long journey. Although this seemed like a good sign, I didn’t expect the energetic and relaxed community I found at the tree. It’s a young environment offering fresh ideas and serious fun.
When I researched the company before coming to London, I loved seeing how diverse the team is and how all they ask is of you is to “be interesting and interested.” This has been especially true of the people I’m working with, as we get to know each other both inside and outside of the work space.
On my first day, I was able to sit down one-on-one with the team members, hear about what everyone’s position was at the tree and how I could learn from and work with them. I so appreciated them taking the time to talk to and get to know me – it was encouraging from the start.
By watching and assisting my co-workers work on different projects, I’ve seen how multi-faceted they are – which gives me a good insight into the digital marketing field and the different roles on offer.
From my very first day, I’ve found it a stimulating place to be; I’ve had the opportunity to dip a toe into the many different projects and work that goes on there – which is exactly what I was looking for in an internship. I’m thrilled to continue building relationships with the team and to undertake an experience that will benefit me far beyond just these three months.
