Soft drinks brand, Coca-Cola has launched a new campaign to encourage consumers to go green by recycling its plastic bottles.
The video, which uses more than 1,500 bottles, tells the tale of two bottles, one Fanta and the other Coke Zero Sugar, who fall in love as they meet over and over again after being recycled into new bottles.
The film closes with a voiceover encouraging people to recycle empty bottles from Coca-Cola brands including Fanta, Sprite, and Coke.
Aedamar Howlett, marketing director for Coca-Cola Great Britain, said: “The beauty of Love Story is that it reminds people our packaging is valuable, as it can be recycled into more packaging over and over again. All of our packaging is 100% recyclable and has been for some time now.
“The multi-million-pound campaign shows how serious we are about encouraging more people to recycle, so we that we reach our aim of getting all of our bottles back.”
The video debuted on Channel 4 on 28 July and will be rolled out in cinemas and on digital and social media throughout the summer. The campaign is expected reach to 35 million Brits by the end of year, according to the company.
What we think
Sharing his thoughts on the campaign, our Head of Content Edward Fraser said, “It’s a great example of what we call “connected marketing”. Campaigns that are attached to a bigger meaning outside of the client’s objectives. We’re currently engaging with volunteer services and charities ourselves, using our marketing services for a bigger purpose. It works!”
